Double album contains original recordings from 1937 of Jaan Rand’s tunes on jaw harp, kannel and diatonic accordion and modern interpretations of those. On the first CD can be found polkas and labajalgs performed by Jaan Rand. On the second CD, those same tunes are played by Katariin Raska, Leanne Barbo and Natali Ponetajev.

Album contains also a 30-page booklet with the story of Jaan Rand and the description of his playing style and music, the photos and the list of the instrument makers and instruments that are played on the recordings.

The album is a tribute to Jaan Rand and his danceable playing style and, at the same time, a glimpse to century-old Western Estonia dance repertoire where head-spinning polkas and labajalgs reigned.

Part II
________________________________________________________________
A hundred years ago lived in Kirbla a skillful player of jaw harp, kannel and diatonic accordion Jaan Rand (1979–1944). He was a sought after wedding musician and a true instrumentalist at heart, who always had a jaw harp in his pocket.

The tunes in Jaan Rand’s performance that were recorded, are but
short fragments, but Katariin, Leanne and Natali play them in the way they could be heard at a century-old dance party. They are playing for the dancers and dance music lovers. Trying out how to play an accordion tune on a jaw’s harp, a kannel tune on an accordion, a jaw harp tune on a kannel and devise a way for all three instruments to play together.

The album is a tribute to Jaan Rand and his danceable playing style and, at the same time, a glimpse to century-old Western Estonia dance repertoire where head-spinning polkas and labajalgs reigned.
