Katariin Raska - PARMU PILL

by Katariin Raska

/
  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

Parmu pill is a solo album dedicated to jaw harp. In Estonian the instrument is called parmupill. The Estonian name is related to the sound of a horse fly (parm).

The album consist of traditional tunes of parmupill which are found in Estonian archives but also music from Estonian traditional dance repertoire and children songs. Couple of my own compostions are on the album as well.

There is 4 electronic tracks inspired by recording of an actual horse fly on the album, created by Villem Jahu.

In booklet I introduce the instruments I use on the album. Smiths like F.Nesland (NO), S.Pyzhov (UA), P.Moppel (EST), A. Dernovoi (UA) and some more are represented.

Album was released in February 2018.
